ACT Theatre Reviews 2021-2022

Fry is the dirty farm hand who has taken a liking to his boss, Laurie. Normally this character is portrayed as mean from the offset, and audience members take an instant disliking to the character. Paul took a different route with his characterisation. As the tallest member or the cast, he could easily have played it mean but instead he created a quiet, soft-spoken character, who kept himself to himself. In the time that Oklahoma! was set, this would have instantly made him an outcast in society. This also meant that when Jud and Curly fight in act two, the aggression came as a surprise and we, as audience members, really worried for the welfare of Laurie and Curly. I am glad to welcome this small and mighty society to the Am-DramFam at the Association of Community theatre, and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.
