Curtain up on

Frank MilwardFrank Milward

Following the successful production of Sweet Charity, members of Crewe Amateur Musical Society (C.A.M.S.) celebrated with its annual dinner dance at which 15 members were presented with ACT long service awards.

In his introduction to the presentation, Society President, Alderman Roy Stafford M.B.E. congratulated the recipients saying that their cumulative number of years’ service added up to 480. Frank Millward received his 50 year award. He joined the society and played the part of Admiral De Jean in the 1962 production of New Moon.

Many leading roles followed – Rudi Kleber (Dancing Years), Sir Graham Rodney, (Perchance to Dream), Tommy Albright (Brigadoon) and Simplicitus (The Arcadians). Over the years he has also played a variety of twenty-six minor roles. Having served as vice chairman and Chairman, Frank has appeared in several plays with the Nantwich players and the Alsager Civic Theatre and has guested with other local operatic societies.

Frank is looking forward to the society’s next production of Sweeney Todd and hopes that there will be a role for someone of his years, although he is a little apprehensive of sitting in the barber’s chair.
