A tear to the eye
Seven year old Demi Cole, playing
one of the children, reduced The Man
in
Whistle Down the Wind
to tears each
time she sang to him
The words were
I’ ve got a plastic flower so it will
never die,
I’ve got my grandma’s hankie should
you ever need to cry
and, believe you me, he cried at every
performance, as did half the audience.
Start them young
The middle girl of the three who are standing in the photo is 12
years old Frances Harley. When I asked her to think up the movement
for the childrens’ dance for ‘When children ruled the world’. I was so
pleased with what she did that we used it for the show and it looked
great. All the kids loved doing it.

Very many congratulations to Lesley Jackson, director of
Calendar
Girls
, for receiving the award Best Drama Production. Lesley has told
me that she has received the award on behalf of the whole company of
Calendar Girls
, the cast, the props team, the sound and lighting team
and everyone who was involved with the production.
Very many congratulation go also to our President, Dorothy
Spencer, for her Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to
Theatre.
What a trouper!!
Diane Cole is not only one of our star performers, she never misses
a rehearsal despite being the single parent of four beautiful and well
behaved children aged from 12 down to four years.
Looking at her, she must
have been a child bride.
So dedicated is she that
she can often be seen
at these rehearsals with
three of them pyjama
clad so she can take
them straight home to
bed after doing her bit
for the show.
If we ever needed
understudies all three
girls could step in as
they sit singing along to
everything.
She is also a prolific
ticket seller coming out
top once again in ticket
sales for our last show.
That’s dedication
