THE PLATINUM COLLECTION

Alderley & Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company

Co-Directors: Tina Spiers & Alison Brander

Music supplied by backing tracks.

This musical revue launches the company’s 70 years’ celebrations. They presented a collection of songs from some of their past productions including “My Fair Lady, “Kiss Me Kate”, “Oklahoma!” and a snippet from their forthcoming production "9 to 5".

The company is looking towards the future using these musical extravaganzas to bring on new talent. Over 20 numbers were  performed, and all nicely linked and, at the same time, giving a potted history of the musical theatre company.

A feast of musical theatre from a hard working cast of 22 delivering their platinum collection. There was Steve Mills excellent rendition of “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning”, Jill Bull, Ruth Moore and Eileen Rawlison dipped into the “Sister Act” score with  “Fabulous Baby”, and not forgetting “Can’t Get a Man With a Gun” given all the necessary ‘Yee Ha’ from Alison Brander. The first section was brought to a close with the rousing “Oklahoma!” chorus.

Part two had Ruth Moore showing how to put over a song; her swinging “Too Darn Hot” was memorable. Tina Spiers climbed every mountain and Ikaro Gittins told us about the street where that cockney flower seller lived. The musical celebrations opened with a number from their next production it closed with their selection from “Mamma Mia” to be performed in a Showcase with other groups to raise money for The Christie Hospital.

Thank you, Alderley & Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company for your 70 years of community theatre.
